5th September 2011 Windsurfing: Ynsylas Wind Direction: WSW Wind Stength: 25 - 35 knots Surf / Sea State: 3 foot messy surf Air Temperature: 15ºC Sea Temperature: 15ºC Weather: Sunny spells Max Speed: 24 knots (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 14.44 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) First time out for ages due to lack of wind and torn ligaments in my ankle. Just checked and I think it was the end of May that I was last out - that's 3 months without a windsurf! I don't think I've gone that long without a sail since 1984! At least it was a good one, well powered with a 5m sail and my Naish Hybrid Freewave with some big waves out the back and lots of whitewater on the inside. Quite onshore so difficult for jumping or wave riding but still good to get out there again and good that my ankle (which was well and truly strapped up) held out. Graham joined me too with some pretty old kit and having not been on the water for 6 years or so and even then he didn't really sail in waves he probably would have been better off in the estuary, but there's nothing like throwing yourself in at the deep end! |
